Zimbabwe has been known as the bread basket of Africa and its main core has been agriculture. Agriculture has been the main source of food supply in Zimbabwe and also has been a source of living for many families.

Despite several efforts and strategies by the Government to enhance the growth of the sector by introducing plans like Pfumvudza and ensuring land to the youth and  women for farming ,lack of marketing skills has been huge setback especially to most  farmers especially those in hoticulture and aquaculture.

Globally efforts have been made to introduce most farmers to digital marketing ,reducing the need for middle man which had proved to cost the farmers a lot and increase their cost of production  however the situation has not improved for the Zimbabwean farmers . A lot of farmers have also sold their produce at a lesser value due to misinformation from the middle. Although the government has tried to intervene for farmers producing maize, still a lot of farmers have been left to the mercy of the middlemen

Digital marketing has a lot of benefits such as lesser cost in reaching out to the right customers, enabling trackable and measurable results, 24-hour marketing, an easy way of communicating with customers which promotes trust and loyalty, and improved conversion rate since the customers can easily purchase the farmer’s products. Thus the development of Pamarket, which is an online marketplace that provides warehouses to store farmers’ products, advertise their goods, and provide transport for distribution.  PaMarket is a solution being  proposed to  farmers to enhance communication between farmers and customers, as well ease the transportation of the produce to a ready market for consummation reducing loss and food waste

PaMarket is an agricultural fair-trade online marketplace platform that allows farmers and vendors to advertise and sell their products in the comfort of their homes. It is both a B2B and B2C model as it can link bulk farmers to customers such as restaurants, factories, and the international markets. The platform can also link small-scale farmers to the customers directly. The platform also allows farmers to create customized online shops which they can only pay for the time they use it. PaMarket will also provide farmers with warehouses to store their products whilst we help them sell. In warehouses, there will be a grading system to help farmers to grade their products for export and food processing or production, mainly focusing on perishable products such as tomatoes. The main purpose is to link farmers with affordable transporters on our platform, making food distribution easier. Pamarket team will also distribute its members and conduct workshops to assist farmers with information on the importance of marketing and the impact which could globalize their produce since the online market is available on the internet .
